Up & Over Oatmeal Stout Kit

I don't think the kit included any base malt, only crystal or toasted/roasted malt. Base is required to convert oatmeal in a mini-mash, so probably needed at least a pound. Color is a little light, though that may be a problem on my end, but instead of amber lme, maybe should include dark lme or more chocolate to really get dark. I think I will ensure the crush with a grain mill next time, as I just assumed that they crushed it for me, but now I can't seem to remember actually looking that close. A little more bitter than I would like, most likely because I do full volume boils, so my hop utilization is higher. My fault, I should have took that into account. Has good body. Overall, still a good beer, just not what I expected for the style. HomebrewUSA still rocks my socks!
